How We Started

Filepad was born out of frustration with existing tools. Our founders spent years working in document-heavy industries—legal, consulting, government—where accuracy and provenance matter. They watched colleagues struggle with:

Chat interfaces that generated great suggestions but required copy-paste to use
AI tools that trained on their confidential documents
Collaboration tools that didn't support proper review workflows
PDFs that couldn't be edited in place

They realized that what document professionals needed wasn't another AI chat— it was an AI workspace. A place where documents live, AI helps edit them in place, and everything is reviewable and governable.

In 2024, they started building Filepad. Today, we're helping teams across industries do better document work with AI that respects their needs.
